Periods after miscarriage

As a teenager my periods were horrible. I bled a lot and painful. Well as I got older and after my first child my periods were easy going light bleeding short and not painful. Now after I have lost a child via miscarriage I am having the worst periods ever. The pain is almost unbearable. Has anyone else had a problem with theirs? I have an appointment tomorrow but I'm just curious.
