Me or Ex Gf?

I met Alex (Not real name) in college second semester of freshman year. We started hanging out throughout the semester and got really close. We ended things on a good note for the summer, saying we would keep in touch and definitely start things again in the fall. We planned to even visit each other during the summer. But, Alex went home and saw his ex, who he dated for 1 1/2 years and broke up with at Xmas. This was a girl he thought he was going to marry. His feelings for her are starting to come back and they even cuddled, which he felt really guilty about. He is conflicted between me and his ex GF, who is going to be a freshman in a Connecticut college next year. Alex and I go to a New York college 5 hours away. How do I get Alex to choose me over her? He said he still likes me a lot and has strong feelings for me, but seeing her again has messed with his brain. Thank you for any advice ❤❤
