When to make a registry?

I will be 18 weeks this Thursday is now a good time to make a registry? What are so must haves ? Also when do the showers typically take place? Any advice or tips are greatly appreciated:)

You can make a registry whenever you want. I always start making one early so I can add/delete/replace items. 
My shower for my first was probly about 2 months before my due date. I wouldn’t wait to do it right before bc then you may be fairly big and uncomfortable at that point. 
I recommend a rock n play, pack n play that has the bassinet/changer attachments, a swing, my first never cared for his bouncer but some babies love them 🤷🏻‍♀️ lots of swaddles and sleep n play outfits/pjs, I’m not sure where you love but babies love to be warm so no matter what long sleeves.
In my opinion baby bedding sets are pointless, all you truly need are sheets for the baby. 
A carrier/wrap, I loved my baby k’tan with my first, it’s how we did lots of house work/grocery shopping!
Sound machine.
