IUGR At 22 Weeks?
Hi ladies!
Had our first MFM appointment today after learning our little girl was in the 8 percentile for size along with two soft markers at our 20 week scan (two weeks ago).
Luckily, the hole in her heart cleared up already on its own but, her brain ventricles are still enlarged with fluid so we took the DNA blood test today to rule our chromosome or infection issues.
My personal biggest concern is that she dropped from the 8th to 3rd percentile for size. My MFM really didn’t seemed concerned at all about her size despite acknowledging that, as of right now, this is a case of IUGR. From my understanding, it’s really early for the IUGR to be this severe but the doctor just was focused on the fluid on the brain and basically said we’ll be concerned about size at 24 weeks if there’s no improvement. I understand measurements can be off but, for her to be at 3%, the margin of error wouldn’t be THAT drastic. She dropped 5% in two weeks so what if I’m another two weeks she drops off the charts?
Has anyone experienced this with IUGR? For the doctor to not really focus on how tiny baby is until 24 weeks? Is he just prioritizing the fluid issue until the blood test results rule out a chromosomal issue that could be effecting size?
Any thoughts are appreciated!
