Ugly baby...?! 🤭

My friend recently had a baby about two months ago. First off, I am FIRMLY of the belief that all newborns (like NEWborns) are squishy potato looking creatures and cannot be cute. They all look the same to me. After a couple weeks they start looking like their little perfect selves and become adorable and amazing. Ok, back to my friend. She keeps calling me crying about how she’s upset that her baby is ugly. And I’m having the hardest time consoling her because tbh, her baby really is not cute. She’s not UGLY but she’s definitely not a cute baby whatsoever. What else can I say to be supportive (....lie) other than say “that’s not true!” or “don’t be silly, you’re hormones are getting the best of you!” I’m worried if she doesn’t stop I’m going to explode and be like “yeah I know, she’s not cute let’s move on.” (But I would never of course)

Ugh, also she made the comment that if my baby (due in September) is cute, she’ll hate me for it...?! I told her that...ALL NEWBORNS ARE SQUISHY POTATOES. But like I’m sure I’ll think my baby is perfect—I’ve literally never heard a mother (until her) think anything different! Helpppppp.
