Cord blood and tissue banking

Ok mommies I am looking for input...my hubby and I are seriously considering banking cord blood, stem cells, and tissue for the soul purpose of our child using them if needed in the future years. But I am on the fence (basically because I don’t know anyone who has done this/ considered doing it/ know much about it) thoughts? Also if you have done it how did you afford the upfront cost? I know this can be a high controversy topic so please keep words civil. Thank you in advance.
