is that a thing? I've always remembered my little cousins doing just 1 on their first birthday.

Generally it’s first birthday. The meaning behind the cake smash is that it’s bubs first real taste of sugar. But I don’t see why you can’t do it for a second birthday at all, go nuts with it 😁 my little one is only 6 weeks and I’m so excited for her first cake smash 😂

go for it! it'd probably be more fun at 2yo too. we just did a cupcake for her first birthday (and family lives far so it was just the three of us) and she didn't really even smash it lol.         I decided to start our own tradition of messy painting in a white dress with my daughter annnd her first year wasn't really what I had hoped for lol

but I know she'll enjoy it next year and beyond. eventually she'll be able to decorate her birthday dresses how she wants to.
