If I'm 1 cm dilated, does that mean I'll go into labor soon?

At my 38+4days, my doctor said that I'm 1 cm dilated. I haven't had any contractions yet. Does this mean that I could go into labor soon?

I was 1 cm at 37 weeks and at 38 weeks I was 8. my baby girl was born 3 hours after I get to the hospital. You never know.

Unfortunately being dilated or not doesn’t mean anything. I’ve been 3cm dilated since my 35 week appt. I’ve known people that weren’t dilated at all until the day they went into labor. 🤷🏻‍♀️ everyone’s bodies are different.

never know. I was 1cm on a Friday and my daughter was born Sunday.  
but I've been 1 cm since 36 weeks and I'm almost 38 now.

I used to think it meant something to be dilated but not anymore. 2 weeks ago at 36 weeks I was 2 cms. 1 weeks ago at 37 weeks I was 3 cm. I go to the dr today and I don’t even care how dilated I am anymore lol

it all depends. i was 1cm from 32-34 weeks then 1cm &30% 35 weeks then 2cm & 50% at 36weeks now at 37 weeks i am 3cm & 60%.
