Back to Work After 2 Weeks!? 🙄

Question

My job may be going to a work from home type position soon. My fiancé says to me last night, “if you are telecommute when the baby comes could you go back to work after 2 weeks?” 
I was really taken aback by his comment bc I’ve never heard of anyone going back to work 2 weeks after they give birth (whether work from home or not) and it actually hurt my feelings bc I think this was coming from a place of like financial worry. 
I talked my way around it without saying “absolutely freaking not” because honestly, this is my first pregnancy and ive never been through it so I don’t have any hard evidence that its impossible.  
What should I say to him? I want to bring it up and make him realize what he was suggesting to me but since I know he has absolutely no clue what is coming I don’t want to hurt his feelings or make him feel dumb. He just has no idea.

I am a telecommuter from home and with my first baby I took the full 12 weeks off. I am now pregnant with my 2nd and will take the 12 weeks again. I would explain to him that it's not about where you work but adjusting to the new baby and your body is still healing. I bleed for like 2 months after my first baby. it's not just about the baby, your body will go through alot and you shouldn't be expected to jump back after 2 weeks.

Anyone who thinks they can work from home with a newborn has never had a newborn before. Take all the time you can, babyhood will be over in an instant! And honestly the first 6 weeks are so hard, the second 6 weeks are much easier to enjoy.

Yeah I work from home and went back after 7 weeks because it was all unpaid and my husband broke up his leave so he was off for another month when I went “back.” I wish I had taken more time. Not only is your body still healing, you’re trying to figure out life with a newborn, breastfeeding (if you’re going to do that). You’ll also still probably be exhausted! There’s no way I could’ve worked on top of that even at 7 weeks without my husband here. Does he not realize you’re working just like you would be at an office, but you’re at home?!

To add, when I started working from home and my husband was off he’d say “oh let’s take the dogs for a walk” blah blah totally not getting that  I was WORKING! I think maybe he just doesn’t realize that and doesn’t realize the amount of work and exhaustion with a newborn.

I went back to work 2 days after my daughter was born. It sucks and I don’t advise it. These first weeks are rough and I have a nicu baby
