At 40 weeks or later, how many of you feel that sex is what helped induce labor for you? And for those that dont care to comment, do you feel orgasm for us is as important in aiding labor as their sperm is?

Orgasm is the most important part. It causes your uterus to contract.

Along with orgasm causing your uterus to contract, it’s beneficial if your SO finishes inside you. Semen contains prostaglandins that ripen/soften the cervix.

This is actually a common misconception. Sex ONLY helps if you’ve already begun dilating. If you have t begun dilating yet, it does nothing. Orgasm has nothing to do with it either. It is the semen that helps soften your cervix

I’m 40 weeks officially today and we have had sex every day the last two weeks and nothing :( he finishes inside every time and I finish most of the time. So I think it just depends on how your body is and if it’s ready for labor or not

Thanks, ladies. My friends and I are debating a bit about whether or not female orgasm is relevant for this situation. Most of us think the sperm is the only completely necessary factor in possibly starting labor because of what a couple of you have already stated...the prostaglandins it contains and the affect they have on our cervix's. Are this point (40 weeks today) I'm truly so miserably tired and uncomfortable that working toward an orgasm even sounds exhausting. I'm willing to suck it up and let him get his if he wants and especially if it  may help get her here but seriously I have zero interest in "finishing" on my end. Some of them say it's pointless to even have sex with intent of starting labor if I'm not going to finish...that him finishing alone won't help anything. So I thought I'd see what all the momma's here thought. Thank y'all for your experiences/input.
