What to expect?

Hey people! I’m a FTM and my first prenatal appointment is next Wednesday. I will be 8W and 6D. I was wondering, what should I expect from my first appointment? Will they show me baby/let me hear the heartbeat?

There are a lot of articles on what to expect - but ultimately I think it depends on your doctor! I was expecting a full physical exam, pap, etc. per the articles I read. I went in at 8 weeks exactly and they confirmed the pregnancy via an ultrasound where I saw a flicker of the baby’s heart and they took some measurements. They adjusted some medication and gave me a “to do list” which included going to the lab for bloodwork, scheduling some screening tests, and stopping the current meds I was on. It didn’t seem as comprehensive as the articles I read and the experience of others, but I’ll be going back when I’m at 12 weeks and they’ll do the full physical and another ultrasound. Good luck!

at mine I had to pee in a cup, get a pap smear and breast exam done. then they did a transvaginal ultrasound to see baby and look for a heart beat. Turned out instead of being 9 weeks I'm closer to 6, so I'll be going back on the 18th for another scan so they can lock in that due date. they ask about family's medical history for you and the dad's side. you can prepare a list if you haven't already in case they wanna know at that appointment.
With my first pregnancy they also did blood work because I had previously had some done at walk in care and they wanted to make sure levels looked okay.

My first appt was 7 weeks exactly. They just did a transvaginal ultrasound, took some measurements and photos for me and we saw the heartbeat. We met with the doctor and she made sure I’m taking prenatals and talked with us briefly (nothing too in depth). I have an appt next Monday at 8+4 to do a “full OB workup” which they’ll essentially do a physical and a ton of blood work. I’m not sure if they’ll do another ultrasound or not. But I know I will go back at 12 weeks for the genetic testing to make sure all is ok.

I went to my first appointment yesterday at 7w0d. They did a transvaginal ultrasound and got to see our jelly bean, we didn’t get to hear the heartbeat but we saw it flicker on the screen. When I met with the OB she literally asked like 5 questions and gave me samples of prenatals to try and sent me on my way. I agree with most comments saying that it probably depends on the doctor.

I went today for my first appt. my doctor sat down with my husband and I and asked a bunch of questions, answered any questions we had, etc etc. 
then he did the ultrasound and we got to see little poppy (we call it poppy because we found out when it was a poppy seed size and it just stuck 🤷🏼‍♀️) 
after the ultrasound was done and the pictures, he sent his nurse in to do all my prenatal blood work and we’re coming back in a month for our next appt. 
We measured exactly 8 weeks, but my app says I should be 9 weeks tomorrow with the same due date that thI doctor gave me and the app gives me, so that’s a confusing game of how many weeks we are!
