Birth control problems

Hannah

So I got an IUD after I had my baby, and it got embedded in my uterus (ow) and I had to get it immediately removed. I told the doctor I did not want another one and would like to start taking the pill. He did not ask any questions just said “okay” and put me on Sprintec. Two weeks later my milk production drastically lowered (I know because I pump). My baby was so fussy because I just wasn’t making enough milk anymore and I had no idea why. I felt like a horrible mom. I had no choice but to switch to formula. I went back to the doctor a couple weeks after that to change birth controls because I felt like the Sprintec was making me more anxious. The nurse asked me “have you considered Nuvaring since you aren’t breast feeding?” I asked her “how did you know I wasn’t breast feeding anymore?” And she goes “oh because you are on Sprintec breastfeeding moms aren’t supposed to take that. My heart stopped when I realized this. I told her “I was still breastfeeding, the doctor didn’t ask me if I was breast feeding he just prescribed me this pill.” She looked shocked and said “babies aren’t supposed to have estrogen based birth control and it can drastically reduce milk production.” I was so upset. When my doctor came in he informed me that the estrogen doesn’t hurt baby and that my milk being lowered is a very rare side effect. And he DIDNT apologize when he was clearly not supposed to give a breastfeeding mom this birth control. I feel like my choice to stop breastfeeding has been robbed from me. I feel so upset and do not want to go back to that hospital. Am I being overly emotional about this?
