What is a waste to bring to the hospital?

I have my bags set to go. I feel like I have everything under the sun. What do you all feel isn't necessary to bring and what are some definite things to take?

I work in a post partum unit... I see moms bring way too much all the time. Bring essentials... Toiletries, everyone always forgets toothbrush and toothpaste... Shampoo and  conditioner body wash... Lotion baby lotion, baby nail filer (in case nails are long( or you could chew them off too.. Hospital doesnt supply nail clippers.. You need like two pair of clothes at the max... Comfy clothes.. Let the hospital supply you with those stretchy underwear... (God sent) dad bring two changes of clothes... Pillows (but dont forget them!!!!!) dont worry about boppy yet.. Use hospital pillows for that stuff... For baby.. Bring like two changes of clothes... You dont need much... Snacks if you want, tablet/laptop for movies if you want while feeding at night (rarely do moms bring them out from exhaustion of the delivery but hey you never know)

With my first I was like you and brought everything and literally didn't shower and barely moved, only to the bathroom, because it's obviously very painful. No energy or desire to primp for guests. What i did use was a robe to keep warm and warm socks. You will generally wear your hospital gown the whole time.  You can't wear yoga pants they check your V and push on your belly to further expel (I know, gross) so there's not much you will need or want to need. You are pretty dazed afterwards and on pain medicine.  Toothbrush, robe and socks and maybe lip balm but we all have that. An outfit to go home for you and baby or I just wore what I came in with. With my second I did shower and could move around a lot sooner so it's a bit different. But if this is your first pack light.

I called labor and delivery where we will be going. They were so nice and told us what they recommend we bring and what we don't need.

This will be my third and I'll be bringing-Chapstick (I live on the stuff), pads,bathrobe, nursing tank, nursing pads, lanolin cream, comfy PJ pants, grippy socks, comfy slippers, normal toiletries, my Brest friend feeding pillow, camera, books/tablet/magazines/word searches since I'll have a c-section and be in the hospital for several days. Trust me when I say you will be sweating so that's why I loved my nursing tank anything heavier and i would have died, I also loved my own grippy socks because of all the swelling the hospital ones were cutting off my circulation lol

I used: bathrobe, nursing bra & nursing tank,  toiletries, Chapstick, snacks, water bottle, Boppy, my own pillow. Maternity skirt and a shirt to go home in. Car seat. Cell phone and charger. Good tissues (I hate flimsy hospital tissues).

All I brought for the baby was a couple onesies to go home in (the one I wanted to use and a spare larger one just in case). Didn't bring more clothes because he was born in warm weather.

I was told not to bring diapers or wipes because my hospital provides those for you. I was told it is optional to bring a hat, outfits or swaddle blankets because they provide those too. I will still bring outfits because I want to dress him all cute, and take a few photos. 
I think it depends on your hospital with what they provide and what you need to bring. I was told this info at my childbirth class, the lady who taught it works for the hospital I'm delivering at. She also said not to bring underwear (they provide disposable ones ) or shampoo and conditioner. Of course you can bring your own if you'd like.

Most everything really. The things I really used were my own pillows, phone charger, pajamas and going home clothes for me, going home clothes for baby, and toiletries. Everything else was just extra stuff to lug around but that's just me and I'm sure everyone will have a different opinion. That's going to be all I pack this time around though! Good luck!
