Flu shot, yes or no after 12wks?

I'm debating if I should or should not get the flu vaccination, I'm 12 weeks now and would hate to get the flu, im in Australia and it winter here

I say no. I was 16 weeks and they told me I better get one and then that night I was in labor and delivery strongly contracting and had to get shots to stop them. I was on bed rest after that and still contracted throughout my pregnancy. Had to take medicine everyday to stop them. Never again

I got it when I was pregnant with my first during the winter, the flu can just be so dangerous when ur pregnant

I would get it. Also the tdap at 32 weeks. It has shown to pass some immunity to the baby inutero. I spent a year and a half administering vaccines, here in the US the injection is a dead version of the virus so it is not possible to get the flu from the vaccine. It does cause an immune response which may give you symptoms of fever or malaise. A vaccine helps your body build an army of defense so to say. It introduces the virus in a much smaller amount so your body will be able to recognize it in the full blown situation. However our vaccine here in the states we say you don't have full immunity for 2 weeks after vaccinating. Do research on the vaccine they are offering and just make sure it is research based information. There are always a lot of random information that people will put on the Internet without proper research. Also if you have questions about the vaccine and its side effects ask your doctor or nurses. They will be able to tell you the manufacturer and you can get info off the internet.

You can tell the nurse you are pregnant and they will give you a different shot. I think they will do one without live cultures in it.

Unfortunately I'm required to get the flu to work as a nurse in the state of Texas no exceptions so I will be required to get it in sept but I'll be 6 months so hopefully nothing goes wrong
