What age is a good age to put a child in daycare?

I’m a FTM, currently not working and plan on staying home with baby full time for at least the first year. I, however, know it’s extremely important for toddlers to develop social skills early on so I definitely want to place her in some sort of half-day, 3 days a week, part time day care when she gets a bit older. I was just wondering what you ladies think is a good age for that?

Whatever age you’re most comfortable with! Both my nieces started going at 3, and personally I think they could have used an earlier start socializing and being away from mom.

Whatever age you feel comfortable. I worked at a daycare and most start at 6 weeks. Because many parents can’t stay home. I personally started my son at 15 months. To start being around more kids. I have a nephew a few months older but we don’t see him often enough.

My first started at 10 weeks. She is now 15 months. Currently pregnant with her baby sister and if everything goes according to plan this one will start at 6 weeks.

If you can avoid daycare, please do! You can go to parks, meet people and have play dates, enroll your child in an activity even something small like dance or paint. They usually have those for young children. My daughter was bullied, bitten, PUNCHED, and caught lice 5 TIMES! She was only 3. The other girls were only 3 as well. It didn't add anything positive to her social skills except extreme anxiety when it came to start school because she was afraid to get hit again. Daycares just aren't what they should be, I think play dates and activities are a much better option for young children to socialize.

I started my son at 2. He went once a week for 5 hours. I decided to put him in for me time and to help develop his language skills. He has gotten really good at saying Yes and No right now. Because he cried and threw tantrums since we got to the parking lot, he now goes 2 times a week. I think continuous days have helped him calm down. He stopped throwing up out of anger. He has gotten really good at drinking from a cup and eating with a spoon. He also waits outside the bathroom to wash his hands among other skills.
