Any previous Jehovah’s Witnesses?

Looking for any people who have previously been Jehovah’s Witnesses...

I’m 28, living in Scotland UK, and I was raised as a fifth generation witness, as part of a religious family and this was our way of life. It’s quite strict and oppressive towards women, as well as having a lot of hidden faults.

I left over 5 years ago after questioning everything this religion teach and advocate; I was never disfellowshipped but I have been ostracised by everyone who had been my social circle.

Fortunately my mum left shortly after I did and my brothers have nothing to do with the witnesses or their teachings so I do have them and my wonderfully supportive husband. Over time I’ve made a few friends outside of this faith but I do struggle with confidence at times.

While I don’t look to the bible for my beliefs anymore, I question everything I’ve been told and how much that impacts on my beliefs and perception of the world and society.

Anyone else in a similar situation?
