Do you wash your face differently when you wear makeup?

vs. how you would wash your face on a day of no makeup?
I just use cleanser at night, and pretty much do the same thing if I wear makeup.  Am I supposed to wash for longer or use a makeup wipe or Micellar water first? I’m nervous about the whole double cleansing thing and am wondering if it is necessary.  I don’t wear anything waterproof.

I use an oil based cleanser if I wear face makeup, and then my normal cleanser to remove the oily feeling from the oil cleanser, then toner, moisturizer, and a heavier nighttime moisturizer. 
It seems like a lot of steps but I don’t wear foundation often, so 🤷🏼‍♀️

normal face wash doesnt clean make up off. its not made to do that. i always use a make up remover first if i wear make up.
