genitals changing before 20 weeks?

so i went to the ER last night for back pain... i have a kidney infection but they still have me an ultra sound, im 16 weeks today. the doctor said he saw a scrotum and a penis and showed me them as well. im really happy because i wanted a boy!!! however, my friend has me freaking out!!! she said his junk can be "sucked back in" before 20 weeks and actually be a girl. has anyone heard of this? should i be worried my boy will turn into a girl?? lol

That’s the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard. Nothing gets “sucked back in” and the sex won’t change. Sex is determined by DNA, it’s predetermined when the sperm meets the egg.

LMAO.... what on earth?!  At 16 weeks the genitals are not changing.
 
Now the only thing that changes in their size and definition.  And for boys it sometimes can be confused with a penis (third line) and the umbilical cord... but if the US Tech knows what they are doing they will either give you a definite answer or an iffy one.
 
Example: my first was VERY obviously a boy even at 16 weeks.  We double checked at 20 weeks, and yup!  Still a boy, haha.
 
My second was harder to tell at 19 weeks thanks to positioning.  So we are waiting until 23 weeks to find out... 😂😭
