Body weight exercises

I want to start working out and I want to stay consistent. If I start off doing body weight exercises then move on to weights will I still see results? Because I usually start off working out and I use weights like I used to and then I get too sore and I stop.

But if I start off just using my own body weight until I am not sore with that wouldn’t I still see results because I still am sore?

And I like to workout without shoes when using body weight but is that bad for me?
