Is sex safe during first trimester?

I just found out I’m pregnant on Friday and I was just wondering is it okay to still have sex? I’ve been holding off because I have had some brown spotting and I wanna make sure it’s okay. I don’t have a doctors appt yet and I have been holding off on sex with my husband since I found out.
