Rings on the way...

What are your thoughts on getting rings before you're legally married? We had been talking about it before we realized for tax purposes it's better to stay legally single, now that we are expecting I don't want to wait but know it's better for us financially. We decided that although we don't want to legally get married we want to represent ourselves as a married couple... our state doesn't recognize common law marriage, as most don't these days. Me watching the USPS delivery status...
