What’s your little miracle story?

This was Miso, my sweet little Russian Blue cat. He died last year, at 21 years old (same as my age at the time!) We found him when I was 2 years old, sitting in the middle of the street in front of our house. My brother brought him inside so he wouldn’t get hit by a car, and we all fell in love instantly. Even my dad, who never really liked cats at all. But Miso was special, undyingly loyal and affectionate, like a really chilled out puppy. When I was six years old, we suddenly had to move. We were driving downtown to stay at my abuela’s house since the move was so sudden, and Miso was relaxing in my lap. When we were almost to her house on the highway, Miso JUMPED out of the open car window into traffic. I was in tears for hours, we thought for sure he was dead. Three years later, we drove by the old house after going out to dinner one night to see how the new owners changed it. I got out of the car, and immediately this little ball of black fluff comes running out of the bushes. It was Miso!!! He ran all the damn way back home, a 25 minute drive, and the neighbours had been feeding him thinking he was a stray. He recognised me immediately and jumped up to my shoulder and meowed frantically. We took him home that night, and up until I moved in with my husband he stayed with us and often slept in my bed. I miss him everyday, he was such a special cat! I miss the way he used to sleep on the backs of my legs when I slept on my stomach, sometimes curling up on the small of my back. I’m so blessed to have had my smart, long-living, loving kitty, and I’m so happy we went back to that house! It was the only time we ever went back too. Miso also indirectly brought me another friend. I guess he found a hamster outside (escaped from a neighbour’s house I assume???) and brought it into the patio, and I came outside and the poor thing was bleeding all over! I took him inside and nursed the little guy back to health, and I named him Reggie. I was never allowed to have hamsters until then, my mom felt so bad about Reggie that she let me keep him. It amazes me how much difference having a good pet in your life can make! Miso stayed extremely happy and healthy all the way until the last week of his life, he was a strong little thing 💜
What are some of your little miracle stories? Whether it’s about a baby, a pet, a family member, or just a big success in your life, I’d love to see them! There’s so much sad shit around in the world sometimes, it’s good to stop and have these positive moments to escape :)
