Birth defect blood test??

Question

My OB brought this up to me & I heard that you can also find out the gender early through the test. Would it be bad if I just got the test to find out the gender early? or is that a selfish decision? I'm really debating on doing it but I don't want to worry myself if the test comes back positive for a birth defect.

Took the Harmony test in my 12th week. Found out the following week that we were all clear for chromosomal defects and that we're having a girl!

I did the blood test that's called the Harmony test today! They just drew my blood and I should know within 2 weeks. I mainly wanted to take it for gender but also for piece of mind on birth defects. Most insurance companies only cover it if you're 35 or older but my doctor gave me a number to call so they could tell me the cost with partial insurance coverage (mine was $130). Google Harmony Test and read it up on it!

I had the harmony test done last week and got my results back yesterday. A healthy baby girl ❤️. Also you don't have to be 35+ or a high risk pregnancy. I'm 24 and low risk, it just depends on if you want to pay for it because it's a little pricey. It's just a matter of opinion! I like to be prepared and have things planned out!

I am waiting on the results of the progentiy blood test, as scary as it is to see the results if there is a birth defect I think that knowing and being able to plan ahead is my biggest factor. I would rather be prepared than surprised.

Waiting on my harmony test results next week us showed  thickness on baby neck might mean down syndrome plus side we find out what the baby is

Aside from the gender, I think the results of the test are the same as the over the counter gender prediction tests. My doctor put it in perfect perspective, 50% of the time, they're always right. If I wanted to find out our baby's gender that much, if have my doctor do the test & ignore any positive result for birth defects

I did the harmony test purely to find out the sex. I don't think it's selfish at all, I'm very impatient. Luckily everything else came back normal. My insurance didn't cover it unfortunate but it was only 100 bucks so I went for it. Do it!!!

With my second son, my midwife offered and I said no. Until she told me I could find out the gender so then I did it. It was accurate (:

The basic chromosomal abnormalities test doesn'tinclyde gender screening. That is only available with the advanced panorama/harmony, etc tests. Which are only offered if above 35 or high risk. So we got to see an ultrasound while she measured the neck and got a call a week later with out percentages, but that was it.
