Ovulation test question

My cycles are 47 days average. I'm on CD 17, my question is it normal to get slight LH up until you ovulate? I've heard if you have PCOS you will get false positives a lot, I'm not diagnosed but my irregular periods lead me to believe it may be an option. Going to the doctors soon!
