I’m sooo in love with all the white cabinets that I see on HGTV! Would you repaint yours?

My cabinets are very generic, bought the house 5 years ago and the builder put in the regular brown ones. Fast fwd 5 years... white is in and I love the look! It’s not expensive to sand them and repaint them but it is a LOT of work. Would you bother ?

The first house we really made our own that u spent the majority of my childhood in had plain, light stained builder cabinets in them. So my mother, being the fabulous amateur decorator that she is, decided to whitewash them (apparently this is "French country" style, and my mother did the whole house in this fashion). So they weren't solid white. It took several coats of translucent white paint and steel wool to achieve the desired effect. And my father modified the cabinets to look more custom built. By the time we had finished that kitchen it really did look like a French country cottage out of a travel magazine. Never had a problem with staining or keeping them clean because they weren't a solid color. And she had replaced some of the solid wood cabinets with distressed glass panes (the kind that looks like it has tiny bubbles in it). Most beautiful kitchen I've ever seen and I hope to make my kitchen like that one day.

I seen this kitchen in a house we went and looked at a little while back and fell in love with it. I usually don't like white because they stain and what not but I loved these and they aren't completely white.
