Is that bad???

So I’m 16 and I don’t drink or do drugs but I do have friends that take part in that. I was invited to a boat party which I’m assuming there would be alcohol. Now my mom hates drinking and drugs which I totally understand, but if I go to the party and not do it, does she have the right to be mad. And I know that peer pressure is a thing but honestly I could never see myself doing that. What do you guys think, would you be mad if your kid went to a party with drinking involved but didn’t drink?

I would totally be mad. you could still get arrested for being at a party were there is alcohol and underage drinking regardless of if you have a drink or not.

if you're living in her house, she has every right to be mad. when you move out, you can do whatever the hell you want. how hard is it to respect your parents?

I know high school parties have alcohol. I wouldn't be mad at my daughter for being at a party with alcohol involved as long as she was responsible. BUT you will still get into trouble for being at a party with alcohol regardless of whether or not you were drinking

As someone who was just like you, I would say don’t go. I didn’t drink or do drugs at 16. I’m 23 now and have an occasional drink but still no drugs. Those parties just aren’t fun. It’s just a lot of drunk people falling all over and acting like shitheads. Just not a fun scene for a sober person.

Going to a party like that- especially on a boat can be very dangerous- I could see a person falling overboard or police being called. If police come, they don’t care if you’ve been drinking or not- they’ll still probably detain you anyways. So yeah, i can see why that would scare your mom. Not that you would succumb to peer pressure, but that you could be collateral damage in some way (just think of all the drunk/high driving that will happen before and after the party).

I didn't drink or do drugs. I was the good kid with straight A's. Still am but as an adult lol. I went to a party once, and it was an awful decision I made because of the atmosphere. There will be pressure, and there will be a high chance of someone calling the cops. I could of gotten in trouble for the stuff they were doing even though I didn't do anything. Luckily I didn't because I had never been in trouble before, so I was given a second chance. I can understand where your mom's coming from.

Unfortunately, if you are a minor, you could still get in trouble. 
Props to you for not drinking while others choose to do so. I would avoid the situation
