Would you give a statement against your loved one? (READ DESCRIPTION)

Hello all,

I’m watching 24 hours in custody and a 20 year old Male is in custody due to his mother being stabbed 3 times. The mother is okay, yet wounded obviously. There has been severe evidence to suggest he needs to be sectioned due to mental health. The doctor visit suggested the same however they won’t section him yet.

You aren’t allowed to be kept for more than 24 hours in custody unless you are charged. The Crown Court Prosecution Service will not allow them to charge him as there is little evidence, there is no witnesses asides from a call from his brother to the ambulance saying he has stabbed her.

➡️ Now to my question, if the mother gives a statement saying he is mentally unwell and that he did stab her then he can get sectioned and get the appropriate help. Therefore he would be charged but he would be placed in a mental hospital where he can get the necessary help needed.

As a mother, father, sister, brother, friend after receiving a call saying “if you give your statement your loved one will be sectioned and get the help they need desperately”.

Things to consider:

➡️ if you give such a statement they could still be found guilty therefore going to jail

➡️ your relationship if found guilty or after they have been sectioned

➡️ your own personal safety around the loved one and others

➡️ whether you are helping them by reporting it or not

The mother didn’t make a statement despite the family being concerned for everyone’s safety. The police overruled the CPS’s decision. The 20 year old Male was found not guilty due to insanity and was placed in a hospital due to undiagnosed paranoid schizophrenia.
