“Don’t have kids...”

Tayste

Do you think it’s rude for women with children to tell women without children not to bother?

I work at a movie theater and kids (of course) see all the candy and want it. Their parents either say yes or no, and pay. All while trying to keep their track of their kids. I’ve heard countless times

“Don’t even bother having kids”

“You’re too young to care about kids”

“You’re lucky you’re still young and don’t have kids”

I’ve heard all those things and more, and I tend to keep my mouth shut. I’ll talk to children who talk to me, but I don’t engage because it’s not my place. I’m usually talking directly to who ever is paying me. And I never say “actually I have a son” because it’s not worth it.

But would you see this as rude? Not only to the person they’re talking to but to their children as well?
