should death row inmates be able to pick their own type of execution?

just saw an article about a Texas inmate who wanted death by firing squad (or gas chamber) stating he was afraid that lethal injection would not work or hurt (enough to unconstitutional).
just wondering.

I’m anti death penalty altogether. I think there’s a good argument that the entire practice is unconstitutional. 
If the Texas law allows for either practice I guess I don’t see it as more cruel or unusual than any other, if it’s the inmates choice. I can’t imagine who would volunteer to be a part of a firing squad though.

They are being put to death,  end of story. 
They can choose how they want to die. Being on death row doesn't necessarily mean you have killed anyone. There are numerous reasons. They're human as well and knowing they're going to die is enough.
