Do you believe in introducing yourself to your new neighbor?

So, if y’all saw my last post about the racist petition, this is kinda related.

Since my husband and I have moved in, the only neighbor who has greeted us was the crazy lady. In our old neighborhood, every time that we had a new neighbor move in, my son and I would bake a dessert and take it to them. (Is that old school? Do people still do that? Lol)

And I can’t help but notice that no one has waved, or even introduced themselves.

I saw my neighbor to our left outside the other day, I waved and said hello, and he made eye contact with me, then looked away 😂

It seems so odd to me, is this a normal custom where you’re from?
