Silly question for Americans

So I've never been there before I live in Australia but it's always fascinated me so I have some questions you might think is silly but I really wanted to ask.
1: do you have to be careful in public specially at night from bears and cougars?
2 we have places where you can buy American food, does America have that for Australian food?
3 do you guys have kangaroos in your zoos?
4 is a ranch a farm with horses?

1. Depends on where you are....definitely a yes in the mountains.2. The only authentic Australian food sold here that I know of is Vegimite. Oh, and there's "Outback Steakhouse" which is supposed to be "Australian food" but I don't know how true that is lol...they do serve a lot of Australian beer.3. We do have Kangaroos in our zoos here4. Yes, a ranch is most often horses, cows, chickens, etc.

1 i live in florida and we have wild boars cougars and alligators. Out in the woods or near fresh water. You'd wanna stay inside at night2 the only resturant we have is a steak house called outback. The announcer has a thick aussie accent and they serve shrimp on the barbie and steak. Its alot like most of our steakhouses tho.3 we have plenty of zoos and they all have kangaroos and wallabys. Cant recall if ive ever seen a dingo though.4 ive lived in the country and also the city but when i hear the word ranch personally i think of a farm with many animals. Sheep goats pigs. When i hear the word stable i think of horses.Have you ever been to the opera house? It looks so beautiful and i wish i could see it one day.

Depends on where you live. In Colorado, I say yes. Bears come into the city all the time, all over Colorado; mountain lions, coyotes, they are all a concern. I'm sure there are Autralian restaurants. It doesn't seem common like the way we have Chinese food, Mexican food, etc. It might take some searching. Yes we have kangaroos in our zoo!

Oh and ranches. Yes, usually there are cows and/or horses. I always picture it as someplace rich people vacation to lol I call it a farm, then I can imagine livestock and crops and such

1- in public? Not really. Unless we're camping in the mountains, we really don't even think about the possibility of running into any creatures. (The exception is deer...there are lots of deer that love running in the middle of the road, so driving down the back roads at night we may be very cautious)2- we have one restauraunt called Outback Steakhouse. It's supposed to be australian inspired food, but it's not. Look up "Australians try Outback for the first time" on YouTube lol3- yes there are kangaroos in our zoos.

I'm from Upstate New York near the Catskills Mountains along the Hudson River in the Farm Country part of New York. 1.) There are a lot of bears in the area I'm from and snakes and Cougars if memory serves from all the wooded areas and they don't really bother you or wander into the towns, the ones who do are Bears and as soon as they see someone they tend to run for it. But people still are a careful because it's a wild animal and you can't predict it won't attack you. 2.) There aren't any places where I've lived where you could go buy Australian Food. We have Chinese places and Japanese and Thai Food. 3.) Yes, some Zoo's have Kangaroos. 4.) A Ranch has more than just horses, at least where I'm from they have bulls and cows and some hens and chickens. I live in Norfolk Virginia now and most of its about the same but the animals we don't have to worry about here at night. And I have yet to see any kind of ranch or farm out this way, is a military places with a lot of bases so I haven't even seen wooded areas here.

A ranch is a large grazing farm. It generally has beef cattle, but I've seen horse ranches, too. Usually a ranch will have horses because the land is very vast and you have to have some way of getting all the animals rounded up when it's time. (We are talking so large that you can't even see all the cattle all the time).
