Copper IUD?

Question

I am currently on the pill but looking to switch to the copper IUD due to the fact that it is nonhormonal. But I am absolutely terrified! I have heard horror stories about insertion and pain. To those of you who have or has had it, can you tell me your experiences?? Thanks in advance 😊

The insertion feels like a intense cramp that lasts barely 1 minute, but I had small cramps after (On and off) for the next 3 days. Just have painkillers, a hot water bottle and chocolate handy for after. I also had my bf there to drive me and to just be there tbh. It has made my periods heavier, but I use a cup so it doesn't bother me.
