Dancers!! What class should I start?

So I want to get into dance more to help my musical theatre training. I’ve never trained in dance properly and would take a beginners course. I’m bad with feet and want to learn some technique I can apply to the various dance styles we do for MT. Any advice?

Ballet is the base of ALL dance, you should definitely start there. Then once you’ve gained some knowledge of ballet you can move on to other styles.

Ballet will help you excel in all aspects of dance- definitely a necessity when deciding to pick up the new skill. I’m a dance instructor and we don’t allow our girls (or boys) to be in jazz, contemporary, lyrical, or tap without taking ballet for a year first! It may seem stiff but keep an open mind because it’s a beautiful style of dance!! Good luck!

I’d probably suggest starting with contemporary or jazz classes.
