When your fluid leaks is it constant leak or can it just come out occasionally like normal discharge would?

I have been having the same thing. I'm 37 weeks 2 days. But the last 3 days have been having more and more bathroom trips with clear liquid and last night after a baseball game my underwear was soaked with no explanation because I did not feel like I was leaking but was wet after a huge kick from baby girl. Been debating on calling L&D; all morning.

My experience with water breaking was occasional “squirts”. I had a high leak on my water bag and it was only sporadically that it would gush- enough to feel I had wet my pants though. 
I knew it was my water because I soaked 3 pairs of underwear in less than 30 minutes. 
Very different than discharge in my opinion.

I had that happening to me and it felt like I was peeing my pants off and on. My water was leaking (it didn’t break) so they admitted me to have my baby within the next day. They worry about infection if it is your water leaking.

I would go get checked out. If baby is low he or she could be covering your cervix, which would mean that the leak may not be constant and could be related to position. It’s worth looking into, they can usually test the fluid to check if it’s amniotic fluid or discharge with a pretty simple test but you want to make sure that you aren’t losing fluid because that’s not good for baby. My doctor said it would be continuous, but could be slow. If you feel like it’s more than your usual discharge it would be good to give your doctor a call, especially with how far along you are.
