Baby shower too early?

Question

When is too early for a baby shower? 
I want to do mine in September mostly because it’s going to be outside (backyard bbq style) and I don’t want to do it when it’s cold and everyone has to bundle up! Anyways So the weekend that works for my really close relatives (they live 12 hours away so it’s hard to get them down especially when they work) they can only come the first weekend of September which will bring me to about 22 almost 23 weeks along... would you consider this to early to have a baby shower? I’ve mentioned it to a couple of people and have gotten really weird looks so I’m kinda confused the “time” you’re supposed to have a shower?

If that’s the time that works best for your distant family to come, go for it! I think we are aiming for Labor Day weekend for mine because that’s the weekend that works best for us to travel to my in laws. I’ll be around 30 weeks at that point. But I wouldn’t be against having it sooner if it worked better logistically 🤷‍♀️

We did mine really last minute. I was either going to be induced at 37 weeks or 39 weeks because of hypertension, and we did the shower at 36 weeks. I don't recommend last minute like that because its stressful trying to go through everything, wash it all, set it up, and pack away what you dont immediately need so close to having baby. Thankfully they were able to safely push me to 39 weeks. A friend of mine isn't due until late Sept and she just had her shower this weekend. I'd say anything over 20 weeks is good. 20 to 30. That gives you plenty of time to see what you get at the shower and what you still need so you aren't last minute running around trying to get everything. My mom was trying to get me to wait to get bigger things until after my shower and I told her I simply don't have the time to wait. We gathered all the bigger items throughout.

I'm having mine at 24 weeks because that is when my sister in law in be in town. I don't think it is a big deal. Just more time to set up and prepare. ;)

Thank you guys! I guess I still have some planning to do before I set the dates anyhow, I’m really just trying to make this as least costly as I can since I’m hosting it myself and working around everybody else’s schedules is hard haha

It’s your baby shower, you can do it whenever you want! I prefer doing it early so you have the most energy and time to get everything ready

we are doing the same thing! due in january! but with thanksgiving and all the november birthday  and christmas we decided to do october! a “lil pumpkin” theme! ❤️ do what fits the timing best for ur family! 💙

We had one last week at 26 weeks and we have another this week at 27 weeks. We had to travel halfway across the country to do them, so we had to do them earlier (and I wish we could have done them earlier...traveling is hard now). Do it whenever works best for you and your situation, not what somebody says you should do 😊😊

I was 33 weeks ! But if that’s the only time you can have family down, then it’s your baby shower!
