Cervix check

Tatyana

I just wanted to comment about having your cervix checked prior to going in labor. I’ve seen multiple people asking “what’s the point?”. I’m actually extremely happy that I’m getting my cervix checked (weekly since 36 weeks). I have dilated about a centimeter each week and it’s nice to know that I’m progressing. I went from a 2 to a 4 in two weeks and the baby has dropped lower and lower as well as my cervix thinning. My doctor even told me that I’m likely to have her early which isn’t common for ftm. My husband had planned a trip out of town the week of my due date and if we had no idea I was already progressing, he may miss the birth of our first. As far as everyone saying that it can cause infection, the only time that would be of concern is if your water broke and at that point you should be at the hospital anyway. So I’m actually grateful my doctor does weekly checks. Any other mommas happy to know how dilated you are?

Update: And I am in full blown labor ladies. Currently 9.5cm dilated and fully effaced. Ftm and I’m 38 weeks and 5 days. Had I not gotten checked, I would have never thought I would be having her early based on my moms labor history and the fact that I’m a ftm. So happy 😁
