Anyone else doing the makena?? I have a nurse that comes every Friday to my house to give me a the shot in my arm. But idk if I want to keep doing it... it makes my arm hurt horribly and it’s not a Constant pain it’s on and off pain that hurts! Just wondering if anyone else is doing the makena and how it reacts to them.

Yeah I get the shot in my bottom and it hurts on and off as well but I had my daughter at 34 weeks and she was 6lbs so it helped. So I am on it again with this baby and I am 31 weeks right now.

I have been taking them since I was 16 weeks and I’m now 29. The injections don’t feel good and the medicine burns like a B*^ch but it doesn’t hurt as much as they used to. I think it’s totally worth it and if your doctor has recommended it I wouldn’t stop. But that’s just my opinion.

ask for it in your bottom or hip there is more fat there it still hurts but not as bad. I be thinking the same thing they hurt so bad I want to stop them but they are keeping my little one in there longer I'm 25 weeks and progressing already without the shots he would've came already. be strong momma

I have been taking them since 16 weeks and go into the hospital to get them. They really dont bother me at all. Yeah it hurts at first and burns but it’s worth it.

I also have been on them since 16 weeks. I’m now 28 weeks! I take them in my bum. They hurt but I deal because the positive outweighs the pain. My little one is growing well, my cervix has lengthened, and I’m in a good place. My first was born at 34 weeks. Our goal is to make it to 37 weeks this time. I would ask if there is a way you could try it in your backside instead. More fat tissue there so it might be easier to take.

yes, with #1 I didn't know of my issues he was born at 31 weeks, with #2 I did progesterone by suppositories, #3 I did mekena in my arms (my nurse was amazing and she did them in my arm, she took her time and massaged my arms after, she was amazing!!!) #4 I did mekena they refused to do them in my arms had to have them in my buttocks, and it was frustrating because I have bad hip pain and it made it 100times worse, I start mekena today with #5 I'm 16 weeks 1 day today, I'll find out where they wanna stab me, it sucks but it does help me get past 31 weeks, I have 2 35 weekers, and a 36weeker, I would like to make it as far as I can this time!!!

Yea I get it in my hip as well , it only hurts a lil afterwards .

yeah my man gives them to me intramuscularly in the hip. the slower he gives the med the less it hurts. I also get him to really rub it in and ice it after. only reaction is I'm tired the next day
