I'd say it's largely a case by case thing, it might be the best thing for some children but not others

Homeschool is better. You can teach in a way that is best for each student. Some kids learn better by reading or hearing the information and others learn better through a hands on experience. At home you can learn at your own pace and without any distractions. No bullying or negativity. Set your own schedule for your day. You can start early in the day or later depending on what works best for you. I was homeschooled kindergarten through graduation so I am very pro homeschool. I began homeschooling my son last year in k-5 and we will be starting first grade soon. We use Abeka Academy, an accredited, accelerated learning curriculum that is outstanding!

I was homeschooled for the best part of my childhood, I got to travel and learn science in a way that benefit me more. More projects that we're curriculum based but it was hands on so it helps retain information more. I was able to join as many after school programs I wanted theatre, gymnastics, boxing I got the ability to be active all the time. Park trips for science, history museum for humanities personal research essays it was great. And when I switched to public school I significantly fell behind because it's not a comfortable environment to learn. Regardless of how accredited a school may be children are still people with personalities and they can be cruel and the staff can only catch so much. There's certain things you can't learn about due to legal reasons but with homeschooling you're not limited your capability to learn whatever you wish is endless. I went back to home schooling my sophmore year in high school and graduated early and with honours. I am strongly for home schooling and if the concern is social skills as long as you put them in extracurricular activities at like the YMCA or boys and girls club or like a sports club or arts club or whatever they like they still make fiends. Not to mention homeschool students are eligible to take activities at any school in their district. To each their own of course but I just thought I'd share my two cents. :)

Well it depends. Kids need both social/academic efforts to succeed. Though studies show that when done properly, homeschooling makes kids more academically successful due to the one on one attention and they can work at their own pace. Not everyone is at the same academic level despite being in the same grade, and kids suffer because of that

As soon as I hear someone’s homeschooling their children I think....what are you hiding.

This is at the discretion of the parents. It depends on the child and where the family lives. Home schooling isnt as isolated as many would think. There’s actually a network and families that I know that home school literally have “class trips” with other home schoolers and if one parent is better at teaching certain subjects they actually will teach all of the hime schooled kids together on that subject. As much as we can have an opinion on this it really is subjective and perception based.

Unless your parent is a teacher, I see no benefit of home schooling. There is no way a parent will be able to cover every academic aspect a child needs on their own. Not to mention the socialization aspect of it. Kids need to learn to work in a classroom setting for other aspects than just socialization as well. We have a few children on my block that are home schooled and I honestly want to break them free. The parents do make it as “school day” hours and literally their entire lives evolve around being home schooled. My daughter gets along well with one of the girls and she literally cannot come to play, but once a week, and at certain hours. They take it way too far, and these kids are very behind academically. My daughter was drawing and coloring with them one day and the parent sent her home with her picture she drew for her daughter because it gave her “unrealistic” expectations for her daughter to try to draw like her. My daughter ain’t no Picasso. I will send my kids to public any day over home school.

There’s certain circumstances that it might be. Like if a child was being bullied and switching schools or moving wasn’t an option (where I grew up, in a rural area, there was only one highschool).

It can be. It depends on a lot of factors though, and it’s different for each individual. We homeschool because the public schools in our area are absolutely horrendous. The private schools only use Abeka which we can use at home for a fraction of the price. We travel a lot because of my husband’s job, do a ton of hands on learning, go to many museums, and they are fantastic socially. In our case, homeschooling is the best option. I was homeschooled my 7th grade year because I was pregnant, and I honestly did nothing. I still scored on a college level when I went back to public school in 8th grade. That year didn’t hurt me, but it definitely didn’t help me either.

Generally I think public or even private schooling is better. Of course there might be exceptions with parents that make sure their kids learn every skill they need to be a successful adult, but what I see most times are parents homeschooling so they can mold them into the family's belief with no room for them to question it or see the other side. Might be a biased vision since I don't know a lot of homeschooled children though.
