Advice for first tattoo?

I’ve always wanted a tattoo but feel nervous about ever regretting, but now I’m 22 and fuck it, yolo. 
As I’ve always been so insecure about my legs, I think put it here can help me to like them and see them beautiful. I’ve came with this design (is XANA’s symbol from code lyoko, means a lot to me) and place, at the end of the leg, above the foot. 
The photo is from a drawing with black marker I’m doing to get use to it first, that’s why is so shitty (difficult place to draw myself). 
So does this zone hurt? (I know it depends, I mean if it’s one of those where you really suffer). Would it take too long to make? And to heal? I’m a bit scared about all the healing process.

Hey there! First off I love the design, I think it’s really cool. Secondly! As someone with three tattoos on my inner and outer wrists and entire left forearm, getting a tattoo near/on the ankle is going to be very painful. That spot is very similar to the wrist in structure and has very thin skin/is close to the bone. Any tattoos near hands or feet are typically most painful because these areas have the most nerves along with spine and head tattoos. That being said, I don’t regret any of the tattoos i have and judging from the size of the design it should only take 10-20 minutes depending on the artist. The feeling is similar to a cat scratch on a sunburn in my opinion, a stinging/burning. The noise is kind of loud and you will feel the vibrations from the machine throughout your body most likely. You can always ask the artist to stop! My sister passed out both times she got her tattoos (right shoulder and inner wrist) but the artist stopped, grabbed her a coke to get the blood sugar up, and finished when she was ready! After you get your tattoo, the healing process is about two weeks! The first step is leaving the bandage on for at least an hour but no more than four. If you take it off too soon or too late the tattoo comes out either raw and bleeding or gets trapped with sweat and bleeds the ink, making it blurry or faded. Wash the tattoo with warm water and unscented soap GENTLY. You have to have to HAVE TO moisturize. Most shops will give you a tattoo care kit but if yours doesn’t search for a fragrance free lotion. Do not use A&D.; Try to avoid products with a lot of petroleum or similar substances that can clog/block the skin. You should only rub on enough lotion/product for it to look moist/wet. Your tattoo will probably start doing this peeling thing after the first week where it looks like the black is peeling off. Not to worry! This is just the scabs from where the needles punctured your skin and if the tattoo looks lighter compared to where the scabs still are that’s normal too. The skin and layers underneath are just repairing themselves and are not gonna look that way forever (a few months maybe). Do not pick at the tattoo or soak it. No soaking in water, no sun, no harmful chemicals, keep the tattoo clean consistently (especially if it gets dirty from sweat, dust, dirt, etc. and use a no fragrance soap) and avoid stressing the skin. You can wear loose airy clothing to keep from rubbing the tattoo and keeping up airflow around it. If there’s any problems or spots that aren’t filled in you can call the tattoo artist and ask them to touch it up! That’s what happened to the tattoo on my outer wrist. Just a few spots the artist missed but looks great now! Good luck! 😋

Yes that spot hurts a lot.  But if that’s where you want it then grin and bare it. It’s worth it!   And your tattoo artist will tell you how to keep it looking it’s best :)

The closer to the foot, the more nerve endings. It’s definitely not going to tickle, but it’s kinda small so it shouldn’t be a big deal and will be over with before you know it. I have both the back of my legs tattooed right under the bend of my knee. They were my worst ones, just because of the thin skin and nerve endings. In certain spots, I could feel it in my back which was super weird.

I imagine it wouldn’t feel too pleasant but it would only take about 15 minutes to do. Healing time is usually around 2 weeks for me the healing process is easy just moisturize and don’t scratch/pick the scabs. I dont recommend getting it in the summer if you go to the beach/pool/lake a lot as you shouldn’t swim until it’s healed because of infection. You also want to keep it protected from the sun.
