Can Labor Start Without Any Warning?

Question

Do contractions start out of the blue when you go into labor, or is there anything that leads up to it giving you some warning beforehand (i.e. barely noticeable contractions)? 
Just wondering since I've heard some women literally had no sign of going into labor, it just happened basically out of the blue, I guess.
Symptom spotting seems so unproductive if this is the case haha

Yes- absolutely labor can start with no warning.
I WISH this was how it happened with me. I usually have prodromal labor for a week or so before my body gets the show on the road. 
I have friends who felt no inkling of it starting and boom they’re in full blown labor or water breaks and they’re rushing to the hospital.

I had lots of diarrhea along with contractions.

I worked all day with my first and had no clue I was in labor. I started bleeding and went in. I was at 6 cm. They hooked me up and I was having tons of contractions. I didn’t feel them at all. 
My second I stood up and my water broke. I had no indication before that

I woke up from having contractions. Who knows how long I was having them in my sleep, but the discomfort woke me up and I had my son later that day.

It depends on the Mother’s body .. some people have no sign of labor until they’re actually in labor and some have signs all the way up until labor . 
I had signs of labor within my last two weeks of pregnancy & I had plenty contractions before my water broke and they got worse after my water broke

I had an induction set with no signs, woke up next morning to pee at water broke & contractions started
