my newborn had an episode 😔

last night (07/07), after feeding my one week old I burped him and laid him down to change his diaper, the usual. well midway through his diaper change he started screaming and he turned tomato red and he seized his body up and paused his breathing for a few seconds . I didn't know what to do so my natural reaction was to ask what's wrong and pick him up. he calmed down after I picked him up so I comforted him a little and laid him back down, he did it again. I was so scared and nervous that I immediately picked him back up again and just held him while trying not to cry because I didn't know what was going on . I eventually got a diaper on him and put him into his car seat and took him to the ER because hey 👋🏾 I'm a first time mom and unneeded reassurance. I was so emotional 😭. well me and drunk hubby went to the ER to be told it was acid reflux and to feed burp and sit him up etc etc . well I knew he had acid reflux, I just didn't know that the pain from it would cause him to seize up the way he did .

**FAST FORWARD**

after coming from the hospital I was scared to feed him because I already knew that routine led to a diaper change in the end . today (07/08) I've been feeding him every two hours (pediatrician recommended for weight gain) but for only 20 mins so that way he's not over eating and producing more upchuck . after burping for a good ten mins, I'll keep him propped up on mY chest while I watch a show or something and eventually transfer him to his bassinet or I'll nap while he's napping on me . when I change his diaper any little sound I hear him make makes my heart drop because I don't want him to have a do over . ACID REFLUX SUCKS ASS! and I hate that there's really nothing I can do besides let him outgrow it 😭
