Anyone potty training?

I’ve just started and would love some encouraging words! It’s going fine so far but I know patience and time is key. Did you know that in 1957 98% of 18 month olds were potty trained in the US? Then disposable diapers were invented and now the average I think is 36 months 😬

We actually just had an amazing success today! She was dry for about an hour and I asked her if she had to potty and she said yeah. She sat on the potty for a few mins then went pee. I was so proud. It was the first time she did that. ♥

Our 18 mo old is potty trained👏 (during the day, haven’t started on the night yet because I’m super pregnant right now, aka super exhausted!!)

we introduced the potty at 12mo but I just wanted it as a place for her to sit. then I started putting her on it after meals. we'd read specific books on the potty and she pooped on the potty more often than not when I sat her there. when her molars started coming in and her normal poop times changed, we couldn't keep up. so, it's always been there and she'll sit sometimes when we're in the bathroom. sometimes I'd ask if she wanted to. just a no pressure kinda, it's ready when you are kinda thing.

she's tried to put on the bottom half of onesies (that I cut to make t shirts) like undies 🤣 and she knows the sign for potty and has known it for a while. just today, she stood by the bathroom door and pulled on her diaper while signing potty. I had just changed her diaper like an hour before but when I took it off for her, it was pretty dry. she peed on the potty! I'm just struggling getting up and down off the floor being 32w pregnant again so I wasn't ready to jump into anything but she might just force me into it!

Yes! The only challenges really so far are:
- when we’re out (driving) and he has to go and there’s nowhere to stop
-bedtime, he tells me when he has to go but which seems oddly more frequent at this time. I don’t think he can understand this as a stall tactic but then again. I’m not 100% ruling it out. 
We have the pull-ups where they feel a cool sensation when they’re wet. He HATES it because he’s always hated being wet even as a newborn. 
We give stickers and clap when he pees. We also opted for the seat that goes over the real potty as (crazy as it sounds) I’m a little Squeamish about emptying the little one.  We also have a stool in place for the sink. We allow him to “wipe” himself drop it in and flush.

I don’t do it until they are good at pulling their pants down and back up...and climbing up the stool to get on the potty.  Between 2-3 sometime

I started just sitting him on the potty in his bedtime routine so he get comfortable with it. if he goes poo or pee on the potty we let him know it was a good job and give him a small reward that way he forms the positive association. if he doesn't go then we say good job for trying and move on.

We are waiting until she shows signs of readiness which is often closer to 2. We also cloth diaper, and I’ve heard kids in cloth potty trainer sooner because they feel wet unlike moisture wicking disposables, I thought that was really interesting!

My daughter does best when she lounges around the house with no diaper. She actually pooped in the potty on her own today! First poop! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

I introduced sitting on the potty at like 4-6 months or something. He did great and would pee and sometimes ooo in the potty when I would sit him there. Then he went through a stage where he rebelled against sitting on the potty and got quite upset if I tried to get him to sit on one. So I backed RIGHT off for several months, as I didn’t want to create a negative association. So we are just over the past few weeks getting back into it as he is showing interest. My goal was always 18 months, having known that was the world average 😭 but looks like we are going to have to wait a bit longer 😞🤷🏼‍♀️
