Moving in / Marriage

My boyfriend and I have been together 10 months but have known each other for a year. We had our ups and downs but I feel that we are right for each other. I spoke to him recently about getting married and moving in. By no means did I expect us to do this tomorrow but in about 3 or so years. However when I ask him he gives long pauses. He says he wants to get married and move in but further in the future than I expect. I feel like an idiot for asking. I guess I understand but I’m not gonna lie I’m disappointed. I supposed this is partially to blame because at least 7 or 8 other people I know got engaged in the last year or so. Idk how to feel about this. I’m feeling discouraged.
