General pcos question

So I was just diagnosed with pcos.. I’ve had irregular periods all my life. I stopped birth control almost a year ago and haven’t had a period since... the doctor told me I basically can’t really do anything about it besides take birth control. She mentioned metformin, but because I’m not obese/diabetic or insulin resistant she doesn’t wanna put me in it... I had an ultrasound of my ovaries and their were a lot of cysts. Is there anything I can do to maybe get rid of or reduce them?.. like at all??? We’ve been trying to conceive and obviously it’s on a hold because I haven’t had a menstrual cycle in almost a year... how did/ what did you do to help pcos?
