My son rolled from front to back at 5 months , sat at 6 months and walked by 9 months!

If sitting unassisted means they got into that position on their own...rolling came first. If you mean unsupported where you put baby into a seated position...then I can see why some people say that happened first.

Rolling over for my daughter was first. 
And to sit herself up unassisted, there was a whole dramatic ceremony, she had to roll to her stomach, then push herself to one side, then use her arms to propel herself up, then finally sit down and smile because she was so proud of herself.

My little one sat unassisted at 4 months but didn’t roll until 7 months
