Removing IUD?

Hi ladies!
I’ve had my IUD for 3 years and Hubs and I have recently been talking seriously about babies. I didn’t want kids when I got my IUD, but have had a change of heart since. Has anyone had experience getting it taken out? How bad did the removal hurt and how long before your body was back to normal, period-wise?

As for tour period coming back, it depends on the IUD. The copper has no hormones, that’s what I had, and my period was perfectly regular and I got pregnant that cycle. 
Getting it out was not nearly as bad as getting it in.  It wasn’t much different than getting a Pap smear, just a bit more pressure.

Which do you have? I had mirena (thought I had copper iud because I was told I got that when placed but ended up being a mirena) for just shy of 4 years. I got it removed February, really no pain just uncomfortable for a moment bwhich is mainly the fact that it was the OBGYN and that’s ALWAYS uncomfortable when they stick the opener thing in lol.. did start bleeding 2 days later which is normal and bled for about a week. I’ve had normal periods ever since.
