Will you circumcise your boy?

We are team green but my husband is from Australia where circumcision is pretty rare and I’m American where it’s common. I’ve left the decision up to my husband if we have a boy but I’m just curious what the current climate for it is. Thanks!

I’m from the U.K. and I’ve never meet anyone who has circumcise there baby or have I meet a man who been circumcise.lol To me if there a medical reason why it has to be done then fair enough but other then that I wouldn’t like to put my baby through it. I also have two boys and they 3 & 8 never had any problems from not being circumcised.

US family here. My husband and I were both pro-circumcision, until I discovered we were having a boy, and did more research. I’ve asked my daughters many pediatricians to come up with scientific evidence on why it’s beneficial, and they can’t provide it. There are hundreds of medical studies available (US and Non-US) that seem to lead more so to the side of increased risk of having a circumcision than not. I became a firm believer that my son would decide. My husband was slower to turn than I was. I told him I would respect his decision of “he needs to be circumcised” if he could provide MEDICAL evidence it was beneficial. All he could banter was the common “different than dad” or “different in the locker room” bs most come up with. It’s estimated by 2025 that almost 60% of children (boys) under 18 will not be circumcised. So for the first one in US history, we will predominately be a non-circumcising country. If my son decides at 12 or 35 to circumcise, I’ll foot the bill myself. Because it’s HIS body.

100%no...UK mummy here...its not medically necessary so why put your child through trauma...I understand others beiw religions etc and respect that as there choice but not gonna be happening here same as ear piercing in babies...wrong...a choice they should be able to make when there old enough x

Watch the Elephant in the hospital on YouTube. It’s a good video that goes over pros and cons of a circumcision including research. As a maternity nurse I will say they can feel it and most babies cry, some more than others. Like adults some babies react better to the lidocaine they use to numb the area. It’s easy to tell those who have a good nerve block and those that can feel everything that’s going on. Personally I think if you choose to have your son circumcised I think you should watch the procedure. You’ll get a whole new look at it and know exactly what your baby is going through. If your planning on breast feeding it can also effect their feeding as they are usually either really sleepy after from crying or very fussy that first day. It is a cosmetic procedure so also know that your insurance won’t cover the cost so you will pay out of pocket for it. In Maine the cost ranges from $250-$700. 
As a mom to be having a boy we are are leaving him intact. My husband is intact and has had no issues. It’s all about self care. Women have to clean under their breast and their vaginal area, there’s no reason a boy or man cannot clean his penis. If my son chooses he would like to have the procedure once he can make that decision I will support him and at least then he can say if he’s in pain during the procedure or not. 
I’m not here to judge just here to advise parents to do their research before putting their baby through a cosmetic procedure!

We will be. It lowers the risk of infections and cancer. I’d much rather have it done now when he won’t even feel it than have to have it done later. I’ve heard far too many stories about men getting infections and needing a circumcision later in life.

In some countries in Europe they even debate on forbidding it (unless for medical emergencies) and wether it is bodily injury or not. So it's not even a point of discussion for us😊

I left it up to my husband. He said theres no way he would leave the baby uncircumcised. Its so common in America and he just fears him being teased in the locker room or girls not liking him for it.🤷🏻‍♀️ Obviously, no penis here so I don’t have much of an opinion. And my husband doesn’t remember his and isn’t scarred by it so..🤷🏻‍♀️
