Riding

So I'm about to ride a guy for the first time and I'm not sure if when it I forward I should put my hands down on the bed on either side of him or if I should put them in his torso somewhere (I don't wanna put too much pressure on him). Which is it normally, torso or bed? Or if you have any other suggestions too for hand placement I'll take those! But I'd also like to know the basics.
