I have questions 😥

I don't have the IUD yet, I have the prescription but can't bring myself to fill it yet. I have too many questions. the one I'm getting is the Mirena, I wanted the copper IUD but I can't because I have insanely heavy periods and I guess that one can make it worse apparently. My sister was put under to have hers put in years ago, they don't do that anymore. Does it hurt to have it put in? Are the horror stories of them slipping and such as common as it seems? Does it actually stop your periods? Does removal hurt? I'm so terrified 😂
