Beach day with little one ? How young is too young ?

LO is 8 weeks old and my husbands birthday is next week. He’s been dying to go to the beach with our oldest (9yr) but I’ve been hesitant to bring a young baby out. Also I am breastfeeding so I didn’t want to deal w the hassle of pumping/ breastfeeding in the heat. (Hormones have me sweating even under the AC). Has anyone been to beach with such a young baby? Any mommas that have and breastfed, I’d love to hear your recommendations. 🙏🏼

10 days old. She wore a sleeveless onesie and stayed in the stroller. I just pulled a boob out when she needed to nurse. Sat in a chair with an umbrella behind the stroller and didn’t feel like I was that exposed.

I’ve been a few times! I have a small travel bassinet for LO to chill in, and we make sure to stay shaded. Just make sure baby stays cool and shaded! As far as breastfeeding, I used a light swaddle to cover. LO is too little for it to bother him.

Honestly depends on the temp out side. I personally wouldn’t. I would never shame anyone for doing so. But I think it’s just still to hot for them :/

My LO is 7 weeks and we’re headed to the beach tomorrow. I breastfeed also. I only plan to take him out either in the early AM or later in the day to the beach. If it’s over 80/82 degrees I’m going to keep him out of the sun and in AC as much as possible. But he’s more sensitive to heat and runs hot!

Haven’t been to the beach, since I’m not a fan and hubby isn’t either, but does the pool in a beach community count? Lol I sat in the shade while hubby took our 4 year old swimming. LO is EBF, so I just fed her and covered my boob and her mouth with a light receiving blanket and kept her exposed so she wouldn’t get hot under the blanket. It felt like 110 when we were at the pool. We brought a cooler with ice packs and at one point LO was very warm and red, so I wrapped the receiving blanket around the ice pack and held it against her back. Her onesie and the blanket kept her from getting too cold but allowed her to cool off. Hopefully this helps.

Travel bassinet and shade! There are those half tents made by Coleman that are great for shade and you could bf in there. We live by the beach and my husband thinks the sand is dirty with bacteria etc so our baby doesn’t go on the sand yet (plus that would be difficult to clean)!

Took my daughter camping when she was only two weeks and during that time we went to the beach every day twice a day with our oldest and I just had baby girl in a diaper to keep her cool and hanging out in the stroller next to me
